December 2019 & 2018 - Baton Rouge Pipes and Drums played for the Coushatta Tribe Christmas Parade in downtown Elton, La.  The large crowds and good weather added to the festivities.  We were welcomed to play on stage for the event.  It was on the grounds with the Farmers' Market after the parade. We all had a wonderful and enjoyed lunch at the Neptune's Restaurant afterwards.

December 2017-  The Band was treated royally by the Coushatta Nation this year again with special treats and accolades. It is so nice to recognized and appreciated.  We love our annual visit to this community with its unique parade and the time we spend on the bandstand in the farmer's market.  You can be assured that many band members shop the booths looking for that one of a kind gift.  And let's not forget the wonderful fry bread - hot and fluffy and delicious.  Can't wait until next year!

December 2016 -Throughout the state record rains every weekend this year unfortunately cancelled all parades. Never fear, we will return next year.

December 2015 -  What a crazy first weekend of December for BRP&D!  We traveled to Elton for the enthusiastic Coushatta Tribal Parade, then later that evening we gathered in New Roads for their festive time on False River.  The next day we marched in the Grosse Tete Christmas Parade along the bayou.  Life is good!

December 2014 -  Fortunately this year was a bit more comfortable for marching in the numerous Christmas Parades in South Louisiana. The New Roads was especially pleasant this year under the stars and with the cheering crowds.  And we also had another terrific year in Elton for their annual Coushatta Parade.  The people are so friendly and appreciative and the food at the Neptune is always delicious.  Thank you for the local support; we appreciate you too.

December 2013- This year has been especially busy for the band with several encore presentations!  First we traveled back to New Roads on a fine La. winter night underneath the festive lights and townspeople.  This historic city knows how to celebrate Christmas and we are honored to be invited back!  The next week was extremely cold and windy but the thrill of performing in the Elton/Coushatta Christmas Parade can't be denied.  We bundled and braced ourselves and somehow we made down the highway and again performed once again in front of the big stage.  Boy, that hot gumbo and crawfish etoufee tasted good later at the Neptune.  We are always treated in high fashion there!!

December 1, 2012 -  Another fabulous day in Acadiana for the Elton/Coushatta Christmas Parade as the crowds were enthusiastic and large.  We had a lovely lunch at the Neptune, shopped the market for La. products and marched down US 190.  The new music was a big hit and it is a pleasure to be treated so generously.

December 17, 2011 - This has been the year for Christmas Parades in South Louisiana as we were asked by the town of New Roads to help debut their Christmas festival and parade.  So we marched down historic LA 1 along the banks of False River at twilight past the lovely shotgun houses,  Cajun cabins and cottages and even an above ground graveyard.  It was a bit nippy so we gathered afterwards for a bite to eat at one of the best known restaurants in town/state.   The fresh hot rolls and seafood gumbo for me was ideal. Bagpiping (and drumming) in Louisiana rocks!

Baton Rouge Pipes and Drums - December 3, 2011 We had a wonderful day in Elton, LA with the Coushatta Nation at their Christmas Parade.  We were honored to also perform after the parade on the marketplace stage.  The hospitality was phenomenal!  We were told that this was the first experience with kilties and bagpipes for most of those in the crowd; we love to spread Scottish culture!  Our band was also featured in the Lake Charles American Press and Jennings newspapers later that week.  Another first!
